    William James went into the army in 1904 (age 16) Royal Inniskillen Fusliers and was a member of the "old contemptibles" and in the retreat from Mons during WWI. He worked for Harland and Wolff during his off time from the army (1912-1914) and was on the first ship to France when war was declared as were all regular army types.
